Lessons are one on one, at Ryan's studio on Rochester's east side, in your home anywhere in Monroe County, or online. Beginners start with grip, rhythm, coordination and simple grooves using songs they already love, so the first weeks feel like playing music, not homework. Intermediate and advanced students work on reading, technique, time feel, independence, fills and soloing across rock, funk, Latin and jazz.
Ryan prepares drum set and snare students for NYSSMA solo festival (levels 1 to 6), All-County and All-State auditions, and college jazz auditions, with mock auditions before the real thing. Young students start at age 4 with short, rhythm-based lessons, and adults are always welcome, including players coming back after years away.
Every student gets a plan from the first month and clear goals each week. Parents are welcome to sit in. The first consultation is free, and if the first lesson isn't a fit, you don't pay for it.
