About Elizabeth
I have recently graduated from the University of Bristol with an integrated Master of Science (MSci) in Environmental Geoscience. I examined the interactions between the geology, biology, chemistry and physics of Earth’s surface, oceans and atmosphere and gained a deep understanding of Earth’s environment and how it can be influenced by human activities. My dissertation research focused on carbonate sedimentology in the South West of England, and on the application of organic geochemistry to paleoenvironmental reconstruction.

I have one and half years' of experience working as a, primarily online, tutor for Action Tutoring and Write Bristol. Working for Action Tutoring involved the weekly delivery of tutoring programmes for pupils preparing for their GCSEs and SATs. The programmes focused on supporting pupils to reach their potential, increasing their subject knowledge, confidence, and study skillset. At Write Bristol, I delivered weekly written exchange and online one-to-one meetings to help individuals build confidence in and enjoyment of writing as a tool for communication. The meetings, which placed a strong focus on fun, also helped to boost confidence in spoken communication. I also offered support with reading for pleasure, guiding individuals to choose reading material that inspired and matched their interests. I aim to strike a balance between these two teaching styles with lessons which meet curriculum needs but also provide opportunity for wider engagement.
