About DeAnn

I am a Early Childhood Special Education teacher. I have been working with young children from Birth to age 5 grade for over 20 years. I have worked some with children older than 5, but my main work has been with 3-5 year olds. I used to own my own daycare where I worked with various ages. I am now in the classroom where I teach 3-5 year olds, those with special needs and those without. Each student in my opinion is unique and special. While in the classroom I teach in a whole group,I also teach in small groups and one on one. I have had lots of practice of helping set up individual goals and creating fun lessons to help my students work towards those goals. I am now wanting to extend that beyond my classroom and use these skills to help other students. I am willing to work with students beyond 3-5 years of age. My certification is up to 3rd grade. I have done previous work with these ages of students in my early years of my career as well in my daycare in the after school hours and summer. My daycare was more than a place where the kids were baby-sat. I provided fun learning experiences as well. I helped older kids with homework. We practiced skills over the summer that needed to be practiced. This could be reading skills, simple math skills, practicing our letters and sounds, number recognition, rhyming, patterns, and spelling words, to name a few.

About the lesson

I currently am a Pre-K teacher who is also a Special Ed teacher. I create goals for all my students regardless if they have special needs or not, then using fun and engaging games, activities, task boxes etc, I work with my students to help them work towards these goals. I use lots of praise and fun incentives as we work. Building good strong and positive connections is important to me in helping my students meet their goals. I have lots of skills in the Pre K world. From learning letters and sounds, to counting, number recognition, to creating patterns and much more . I can help students learning how to read, or even to read better. I can help students with Rhyming or hearing those beginning sounds. I can help with addition and subtraction, and multiplication. My lessons would be set up uniquely to the student. It would be based on their needs. I do try to incorporate their interests in as much as I can. I like to make learning fun and engaging for all my students.

Details

Travel expense is only applied if I travel to you. And that would be per week. I do not mind traveling. If the tutoring job is within 10 miles of my home, I will waive the $15 fee. This helps with gas expenses to travel.
