About Olivia
I am an early childhood education teacher/tutor with 8 years of experience. I have taught in several classrooms, ranging from preschool to second grade, in which I designed and modified lesson plans to fit the needs of individual students. While working in second grade and kindergarten, I developed week long units with content goals and objectives to assess students in order to ensure their personal success.

Each student is unique and learns in their own way. For this reason, teaching under multiple modalities (i.e. verbal instruction/discussion, visuals, art, manipulatives, kinesthetic tasks) supports the needs of all students and is vital for learners to be successful. Presenting material in a variety of ways creates an umbrella of understanding amongst students and gives ample opportunities to learn and work with new ideas and information. Additionally, offering alternative assessments and choices to the students in their learning gives them a sense of responsibility and develops a passion for learning and exploring topics from a variety of different angles. All learning can be further modified by changing the complexity of the task while keeping the core skill the same. Using these techniques through differentiating instruction elevates students and their learning by providing multiple opportunities to engage with and explore new content.
