About Ella
I am a Durham University English Literature student with a strong academic background and a genuine enthusiasm for helping others succeed. I aim to make lessons engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student, so they feel more confident in their abilities over time.
Through my experience supporting Year 11 students, including those with SEN, I have developed a patient and adaptable teaching style. I understand how important it is for students to feel comfortable and not judged, especially when they are struggling with confidence in English.
I am approachable, reliable, and committed to helping students make real progress. My goal is not only to improve grades, but to help students feel more capable and self-assured in their work.

I take a supportive and structured approach to tutoring, tailoring each session to the individual student’s needs and learning style. My focus is on building both confidence and strong exam technique, helping students to clearly understand texts, develop analytical skills, and express their ideas effectively.
In my lessons, I break down complex concepts into simple, manageable steps, using guided practice, discussion, and exam-style questions to reinforce understanding. I place a strong emphasis on essay structure, critical thinking, and how to meet assessment objectives, which are key to achieving top grades in GCSE English.
Each session typically lasts 60 minutes, allowing time for teaching, practice, and feedback. I also adapt pacing depending on the student, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported throughout.
I have experience tutoring Year 11 students, including those with SEN, and I understand the importance of patience, clarity, and encouragement. My background in a professional pharmacy environment has also strengthened my communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of individuals.
My lessons are aimed at GCSE students (Years 10–11), whether they are looking to improve confidence, boost grades, or prepare for exams.
