About Betty
I am an undergraduate student of French and Russian at the University of Durham, currently on my year abroad in Estonia. I am friendly, determined (especially when it comes to helping others) and always keen to listen and adapt to students needs.
Having started learning Russian at university, I have had to get to grips with a completely new language very quickly, and I believe that the strategies I use myself can help others. I am passionate about learning languages, especially finding interesting links between them to help with memorising vocabulary – every little helps!

I am flexible and think that there is no single way to teach everyone – wouldn't life be boring if we were all the same! I am always happy to take the time to find out what works for each individual, whether it is games, vocab tests, exercises or simply conversation. I believe that this also applies to lesson length, as an hour can be too much for some but is ideal for others.
Having spent several years tutoring GCSE students when I was in sixth form, I am keen to return to individual tuition (with a further three years of French study under my belt). I have also volunteered in a local school in my area teaching extracurricular English to Y9 students, so have experience of larger class settings too.
I am comfortable with both GCSE and International Baccalaureate levels, having completed both to A* and 7 points respectively. I can also help with IB extended essays for French, having fair experience in academic French.
