About Patrick
I am someone who is passionate about making music and playing drums. I originally started playing when I was a teenager where I played in the jazz band at school and local punk, rock and metal bands. In my 20s I studied Music and Education at WAAPA in Western Australia and played in a melodic death metal band called Devour the Martyr for 5 years. I later moved on to work in wildlife conservation, but still continued to play drums and teach in my spare time. I'm based in Melbourne but can also do online lessons

About the Lessons & My Teaching Style
My lessons are fully tailored to each student — I don’t follow a strict curriculum because I believe everyone learns differently and is motivated by different things. While I have a structured guide for how I like to see students progress, we’ll build your skills around the music you love and the kind of drummer you want to become.
You're always welcome to bring in songs, beats, or ideas you’re excited about, and we’ll break them down together — whether it’s a groove from a classic rock track, a blast beat from a metal anthem, or a mind-bending polyrhythm.
The goal is to keep lessons fun, challenging, and relevant to your goals, while making sure you’re developing the technique, timing, and musical understanding you need to grow. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to refine your style, I’ll help you build confidence behind the kit and unlock your full potential.
