About Dahlia
I am a violin teacher with more than 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory (Violin Specialisation). I work primarily with adult beginners and returning learners who want to explore the violin outside of traditional boundaries. My teaching emphasises improvisation and creative freedom. We focus on genres like folk, blues, worship, and approachable classical works. I use simple, clear exercises to make progress feel natural and manageable. Ergonomic positioning and mindful practice are always a priority, creating a relaxed learning space. Lessons are designed to be rewarding, not stressful. Improvisation is taught step by step, helping students build confidence in self-expression. I tailor lessons to fit each learner’s pace and interests. My aim is to help adults rediscover music as a source of joy and creativity. Every step of progress is valued and celebrated. Together, we’ll explore music in a way that feels inspiring. Let’s rediscover the violin at your own pace, with creativity guiding the journey.

I believe fluent sight-reading is the key to musical freedom on the violin. My methodology is systematic, breaking down skills into clear, achievable steps. We start with rhythm reading, then expand into ledger lines and quick recognition of accidentals. Exercises train students to translate notes to finger placement instantly. This builds the ability to play new music without hesitation. Multi-part scores are introduced to strengthen ensemble awareness. I also emphasise rhythm precision, helping students feel comfortable in complex patterns. Musical Theatre Enthusiasts benefit from this by becoming quick learners in rehearsals. Worship Singers gain confidence in reading layered harmonies on the spot. Lessons include real repertoire to make skills relevant and rewarding. I adapt pacing to match individual learning styles. My teaching is supportive, structured, and designed for long-term growth. With consistent practice, learners gain sight-reading fluency and lasting confidence.
