About Jared
With a Master's in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and nearly a decade of classroom and research experience, I bring both academic depth and real teaching expertise to every session. I've taught and mentored students across all levels, from high schoolers in the Philadelphia School District to graduate students at Columbia, and my work has been presented at national academic conferences.
My teaching is grounded in research as I've spent years studying how students learn and how great teachers facilitate understanding, not just deliver content. Whether you're struggling with a concept, preparing for an exam, or looking to sharpen your thinking and writing, you'll be working with someone who genuinely understands how learning works and is fully invested in your success.

My approach centers on discussion-based, dialogic learning, helping students think critically and articulate their own ideas rather than passively absorb information. Drawing on years of classroom teaching and research in discussion facilitation, I use Socratic questioning, primary source analysis, and real-world connections to make material stick. I adapt to each student's learning style and meet them where they are.
Sessions usually begin with a brief review of what the student is working on, followed by targeted instruction or concept unpacking. From there, we move into guided practice (working through problems or texts together) and close with reflection on what clicked and what to focus on next. Every session is structured but flexible.
I hold an MEd from Teachers College, Columbia University and have supervised and mentored 13 student teachers at the graduate level. I've also spent four years as a researcher studying how teachers facilitate discussion, so I don't just teach content, I understand how learning happens and can adjust my approach accordingly. I bring both academic rigor and genuine classroom experience.
Best suited for high school and college students in Social Studies, IB History, IB Psychology, or Theory of Knowledge (IB). I'm particularly effective with students preparing for IB exams, navigating discussion-heavy humanities courses, or looking to sharpen their critical thinking and writing skills.
