About Miguel
I am a doctoral student in Biology and Environmental Sciences with a background in Environmental Science and a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences. I also serve as an adjunct faculty member, where I teach environmental science at the university level.
I bring over 20 years of teaching and training experience, including leadership and instructional roles in the U.S. Army. Throughout my career, I have worked with students and professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them understand complex material and apply it with confidence.
My experience combines academic research, public health, and real-world applications of science, which allows me to present concepts in a way that is both clear and practical. I focus on creating a professional, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress.

I take a structured and practical approach to tutoring, focused on helping students clearly understand the material and build lasting confidence. At the start of each session, I identify specific gaps in understanding and then break concepts down into clear, manageable steps using straightforward explanations and real-world examples.
A typical lesson includes a brief review of previous material, focused instruction on key topics, and guided practice to reinforce understanding. I emphasize active learning, where students work through problems with support rather than just listening. For test preparation such as TEAS, ASVAB, PSAT, and ACT Science, I incorporate proven strategies for pacing, interpreting questions, and improving accuracy under time pressure.
My teaching style is patient, direct, and adaptable to each student’s learning style. With over 20 years of teaching and training experience, including university-level instruction, I focus on making complex topics easier to understand without oversimplifying the material.
I work with high school, college, and adult learners who want to improve their understanding, prepare for exams, or develop stronger study habits. My goal is to create a supportive and focused environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building skills, and making steady progress.
