About Melody

My teaching philosophy is to empower students to take ownership of their learning. After diagnosing their needs, I carefully plan my teaching to target specific areas that require improvement. I provide my students with weekly feedback on their progress and encourage them to participate in the evaluation of their own work. Many of my students have found this method to be incredibly helpful in improving their confidence and ability to critique their writing.

About the lesson

- 1:1 bespoke diagnostic sessions tailored to specific individual needs - 1-1.5 hours depending on level and subjects covered - Experienced private tutor and undergraduate instructor - Privately tutored GCSE, A-level, and IB (English, History, and Chinese); extended essays and university personal statements (US/UK/Canada/Australia) - Taught undergraduate level classes on China, the US, Southeast Asia, colonial empires, global migration and refugees, international law, World War Two, and European studies - Wrote successful personal statements that secured funded PhD contracts in the US, Australia, UK, and Italy - Coached students to write personal statements that helped them gain admission to top universities - Provide advice on studying and living in the US, UK, France, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Taiwan - Educated at elite institutions on the Home Office's "high potential individuals" global universities list: - PhD Candidate and MA in History, Northwestern University (9th best university in the US and 26th internationally) - BA and MPhil in History, University of Hong Kong (35th internationally) - Doctoral Exchange Fellow, l’École normale supérieure, PSL Research University Paris, France (40th internationally)
