About Edwina

Growing up, I went through Singapore’s education system and completed my Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Levels. I then moved to Melbourne to take the VCE (ATAR) exams at 16 before heading to UWA. I’ve completed my Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Bachelor's in Medical Science & Exercise & Health from UWA. Having spent so many years studying, I truly understand the ups and downs of school life and how stressful it can be. I’ve been there myself, so I can empathise with what students are going through.

I’m known for being optimistic and easy to talk to. I love working with students who may not enjoy a subject at first but grow to like it through our lessons. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them gain confidence and improve their skills over time. Whether your child needs help with something specific or just needs a little guidance to stay on track, I’m happy to support them in their academic journey.

About the lesson

I like to keep things flexible and tailored to each student because I believe everyone learns differently. Whether it’s working through difficult topics, building confidence, or developing effective study habits, my goal is to support students in a way that works best for them.
I also understand that academic success isn’t just about learning facts and figures—it’s about enjoying the process. By focusing on confidence-building and making learning fun, I aim to help students feel good about what they’re studying, which usually leads to better results.

I believe in the saying "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you've fed him for a lifetime." - By teaching students how to study effectively, I believe they will have the tools for success in the long run. I have experiences working with children/adolescents/adults (ages 3-30) with autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities (eg. dyslexia, dysgraphia), and various other mental/developmental/intellectual disorders (eg. ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression, ODD, etc). I have developed a deep understanding and empathy for the struggles that students can face both academically and socially. With a vested interest in psychiatry, psychology, and psychotherapy, I've also worked extensively with organisations dedicated to helping young people struggling with these disorders. I am more than happy to share with students/parents the several learning strategies and techniques. Currently, I am working with tweens/teens with ADHD and delivering CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy).
