About Veronika

My name is Veronika, and I am 20 years old.

I graduated with the IB Diploma certificate in 2022 and am currently enrolled in a double degree at the University of St. Andrews.

I started tutoring because I often took extra lessons in the form of tutoring as a form of support during my studies, and I have always seen a significant impact in them. Sometimes I noticed that tutoring was not about learning something I did not know but also about getting the motivation to work outside of school and confidence in my pre-existing skills.

When I started my tutoring project during the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked with children from children's homes, which made me see the importance of promoting confidence in pre/existing skills more than ever. From my 2 years of experience, I always focus on getting the student to understand the topic rather than passively remembering information. Maybe even more importantly, I focus on reinforcing confidence in their skills.

Therefore, one might say that I love tutoring because I get to watch my students turn into confident academics. Promoting confidence in one's skills is often neglected in schools but is an essential part of academic growth.

About the lesson

I have over 2 years of experience with tutoring and a year of experience managing my tutoring support project, where I focused on helping students through the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only did I tutor children myself, but I also recruited a 100 other fellow student volunteers to help me make this project a reality.

I usually work with children 13 and younger, but now I am expanding my materials to tutor IB students as I have graduated with this qualification with 40+ points.

I can offer tutoring for a wide range of subjects for students 13 and below (primarily focusing on Mathematics, Sciences, English, and Czech, but other subjects can be discussed).

As for IB students, I can only offer tutoring in Biology HL/SL, Psychology HL/SL, Chemistry SL, English LAL SL, Czech A SL, and Mathematics AA SL. The limited number of subjects and levels ensures that I can provide you confidently with all the information with no gaps.

Lastly, on the topic of how lessons with me work. The duration of the lesson is usually 45 minutes (1 lesson). The first lesson is always free and is more informative so that we can talk about each other's expectations, and I can get a better sense of what to prepare and what resources the student has available. After that, I charge £25 to £40 per lesson (depending on the student's grade).
