About Naomi
I have recently graduated from SOAS university of London with a Distinction in Development Economics MSc. Before that I studied for my undergraduate degree in Economics at Bristol with a year studying abroad at the national university of Singapore, and I received an A* in Economics A level.
I am extremely passionate about economics and take a pluralist view of the discipline with a specialism in heterodox schools of thought. My main areas of interest are development and environmental economics but I am also very passionate about teaching econometrics and quantitative methods and have a background in machine learning. I also have a background in public policy, specifically in the transport sector. I am fully proficient in using STATA and SPSS. I have 3 months experience teaching school children in Nepal.

When teaching economics I like to make sure the student has a strong understanding of the theories that underpin different models and concepts. At the same time I believe it is important to think outside the mainstream and to critique the orthodox schools of thought so that the student can understand and provide a two sided argument to any question they may become faced with in an exam or an essay.
My teaching method varies with the specific needs and the level of the student. I like to work together to determine the most suitable approach and to foster the natural capabilities of the student. I am extremely patient and come fully prepared for each lesson with a number of different methods and options.
For econometrics I like to go through worked examples and help the student boost their understanding of different concepts. For macro and micro economics I like to work with the student to simplify complex models and apply this learning to other areas. I think it is important that the student applies their economic understanding to real world scenarios and uses their knowledge to gain a new way of thinking about the world around them.
