About Lily
I have spent over three years helping violinists build a deep, complete relationship with their instrument. I hold a Graduate Diploma in Violin Pedagogy, which means I have trained specifically in the best ways to teach the violin. My lessons focus on integrating music theory, aural skills, and sight reading directly into our weekly physical practice sessions.
This is incredibly helpful for students who want to prepare for formal music theory exams and build an advanced understanding of harmony. I teach abstract concepts like scales, intervals, and harmony by turning them into practical bowing and fingering exercises right on the fingerboard. I work frequently with formal music exam candidates and dedicated students who want to strengthen their overall musical fluency.
For instance, I recently taught an intermediate student who found music theory worksheets extremely boring and struggled with their upcoming exam. We took their exam piece and analyzed the chords by playing the intervals directly on their violin instead of writing them on paper. They easily passed their exam with top marks because they could actually hear and feel the harmony in their fingers.

We will dive into creative composition for violin, which includes arranging existing melodies, writing original pieces, and exploring non-traditional sounds. This approach is perfect for adults looking to build their playing confidence and digital creators who want to make unique music for their online videos.
I remember working with a student who wanted to write background music for their online channel but felt they were not creative enough. We started by taking a simple folk tune they knew and changing the rhythm to make it sound modern and exciting. Soon, they were writing their own violin parts and recording them with total confidence.
I am fully committed to supporting you at every stage of your growth to ensure you excel and find your artistic identity. We will experiment with cool bowing techniques and different sound effects to make your instrument sound truly modern.
