About Sehar
I’m a medical student who genuinely enjoys helping others learn and develop their confidence. My interest in teaching began through supporting my sister with her GCSEs, where I found it incredibly rewarding to see her understanding and confidence grow. I particularly enjoyed finding different ways to explain difficult topics and adapting my approach to what worked best for her.
Since then, I have also developed my teaching skills through medical school, where I have prepared and led teaching sessions for other students. I want to teach because I enjoy sharing knowledge, breaking down challenging concepts into something easier to understand, and seeing students recognise their own progress. I believe that with the right support and encouragement, students can become more confident in subjects they may initially find difficult.

My lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual learning needs.
First session – Learning plan and goals:
I start by getting to know the student, understanding their current level, identifying areas they find challenging and discussing their academic goals. Together, we create a learning plan so that future sessions are tailored to their individual needs and focused on making progress.
Each following session:
1. Review: Begin by reviewing the previous topic and going through the homework, addressing any mistakes or areas the student found difficult.
2. Teach: Introduce the topic for the session and explain the content clearly, breaking down challenging concepts into manageable steps and adapting my explanations to help the student understand.
3. Practise: Spend dedicated time working through questions together, including exam-style questions, to apply what has been taught and build confidence.
4. Homework: Set targeted homework based on the content covered, designed to take approximately 45–60 minutes to complete.
5. Plan ahead: At the end of each session, I ask the student what they would like to work on next and use this alongside their learning plan to shape the following session.
My aim is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building their understanding and becoming more confident and independent in their learning.
