About Rebecca
I love helping guitarists break through their speed limits and find their unique musical voice. I have over four years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Music in World Music with a focus on guitar traditions. While my academic studies cover global styles, my true personal passion lies in heavy metal, shred, and progressive rock.
This unique blend allows me to help both young learners and adult students build blistering speed, absolute precision, and advanced shred techniques. In my lessons, we break down complex concepts like sweep picking, economy picking, and advanced tapping into highly manageable daily exercises. I remember teaching a self-taught adult who wanted to play fast progressive rock solos but felt completely stuck at a certain tempo.
We analyzed their hand posture, made tiny adjustments to their pick angle, and practiced with a metronome using specific relaxation techniques. Within a few months, they were playing clean, lightning-fast runs that they never thought were possible. I design my studio to be an energetic and highly encouraging environment where you can safely push your physical limits.
We focus heavily on building finger independence and accuracy so your fast playing sounds clean instead of sloppy. Every lesson is tailored specifically to your personal goals and favorite styles of music. I want to give you the exact technical tools you need to play with power and total confidence. My teaching methodology focuses heavily on making complex music theory application incredibly easy to understand directly on your fretboard. We will explore essential subjects like understanding scales and modes, chord construction, and useful harmonic analysis. I demystify these concepts by showing you how they apply directly to the songs you want to play.
This method works wonders for energetic students who want to write heavy rock riffs, as well as highly disciplined players who love classical sheet music. For example, I recently helped a classically trained student who knew all their scales on paper but struggled to improvise a simple solo over a backing track. We mapped the modes directly onto the guitar neck, and they were soon creating beautiful, fluid solos completely on the fly.
I offer personalized guidance to ensure your theoretical knowledge translates into fluent and expressive playing. We will build a strong, reliable foundation for both creative improvisation and original songwriting. My goal is to support you in excelling so you can unlock your full creative potential on the instrument.
