Hi! My name is Shana, and I have a BA in English Literature & Philosophy from the University of California, Irvine. I have always loved to read and write, but I understand how frustrating it can be at times. I have three years of professional tutoring experience helping students as young as kindergarten to college.

I can assist you with essay composition, reading to understand, exams, research reports, and SAT Prep. I have taught students as young as elementary school up to college-level English courses. I pride myself on tailoring lesson plans to my students and helping them succeed, as English is a lifelong skill. I have extensive experience working with students whose first language may not be English, as well as the fact that mine was not either! I have also had the joy of working with students with learning disabilities and overcoming obstacles in order to excel in school.
What sets me apart is my ability to break down writing into a simple formula, which you can use at any level in your education. I still use my essay composition formula post-grad! My teaching style centers around building your authoritative voice, both as a writer as well as a student. The key to crafting a strong essay includes a combination of your voice as well as a compelling thesis. Both of these are what I believe compose the foundation of strong writing. If you are struggling with grammar, structuring your papers, or simply have no idea where to start, I would love to meet you where you are, so you can grow.
