About Maria

I am a Venezuelan and American Citizen, currently living in London, UK. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and received the title of Class Valedictorian (#1 out of 44 students).

During the past 6 years, I have taught in several educational contexts, including preschools, elementary schools, one international school, and one progressive school. I did an internship at Lingua Language Academy (USA) and developed ESOL learning activities for 15 foreign adult students. I also gave tutoring lessons to 4 students between the ages of 10 and 14. These unique experiences have given me a clearer perspective of who I am as a teacher, but also as a person.

About the lesson

I approach each topic by using fun strategies to engage the student in the learning process. As a teacher, I keep challenging myself to prove to the students that learning can be fun and exciting at the same time. I focus on helping the students to be co-constructors of their knowledge by giving them the strategies and experiences that help them to connect what they already know to the new information.
