About Monica

I spent almost a decade teaching English to children and adults in South Korea, and now I'm pursuing my master's in applied linguistics. I plan to return to teaching full-time once I graduate. Teaching is truly a joy for me, and besides Korea, I've been lucky to teach students from all over the world: Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and more. I grew up in California and Texas.

About the lesson

We'll establish your level in our free lesson, and I'll also learn about your study goals. I'll take these into account and create ESL lessons just for you. Examples of the kinds of lessons I do:

- Article lessons: I'll pick a current events article, which you'll read for homework, and in class we'll discuss comprehension and discussion questions I have created. You'll get notes with feedback after the class.

-Textbook lessons: We'll follow a textbook either of your choosing or that I select, and complete the lessons in class. These kinds of lessons focus more explicitly on grammar and vocabulary. You'll get notes with feedback after the class.

-Test prep: We can use our sessions to prepare you for IELTS and other English exams based on your study material.

-Proofreading / editing: We use a session to go over your written work and make corrections and other improvements. Alternatively, you can submit your writing to me and I will return it to you later with suggested changes.

Online lessons are available in 30-minute and hour-long increments; in-person lessons are an hour.

Lessons for children are available on a case-by-case basis; please contact me for more information if you are interested.
