About Alixandria
Hi! I’m Ali, a university student at Vancouver Island University with a genuine love of learning, reading, writing, and helping others feel more confident academically.
I’m currently completing my Bachelor of Child and Youth Care and am a Dean’s List graduate of VIU’s Education Assistant and Community Support program. I also have hands-on experience supporting students in elementary and secondary school classrooms.
I know that struggling with an assignment doesn’t mean a student isn’t capable; sometimes they just need someone to explain it differently, help them organize their thoughts, or get them past that frustrating “I don’t even know where to start” stage.
I’m friendly, patient, down-to-earth, and especially passionate about English, writing, research, and helping students turn their ideas into work they’re proud of.

My approach to tutoring is patient, practical, and encouraging. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and saying, “I don’t understand this yet.” Rather than simply providing answers, I help students understand the process so they can become more confident and independent learners.
A typical session starts with what the student is currently working on and where they’re getting stuck. From there, we break the work into manageable steps, review concepts, work through examples together, and develop strategies they can use on their own.
I’m a current Bachelor of Child and Youth Care student at Vancouver Island University and a Dean’s List graduate of VIU’s Education Assistant and Community Support program, where I earned a 4.16 GPA. My education and school-based experience have taught me how to explain concepts clearly and find a different approach when something isn’t clicking.
I’m best suited to middle school, high school, and introductory post-secondary students, particularly in English, writing, reading comprehension, research, essay and assignment planning, study skills, and organization.
