About Chathil
Hi, I’m Chathil! I am currently a third-year Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) student specializing in Mechanical Engineering at Deakin University in Victoria.
Before beginning my studies at Deakin University, I completed a Diploma in Engineering at Nawaloka College of Higher Studies in Sri Lanka. I also completed my G.C.E. Advanced Level studies in the Physical Science stream at Royal College, Colombo 07, where mathematics formed an important part of my academic background.
Through my engineering studies, I have developed strong skills in mathematics, engineering calculations, analytical thinking and problem-solving. I regularly apply mathematical concepts to real engineering problems as part of my university studies.
I am passionate about helping younger students develop the same confidence in mathematics. I am friendly, patient and approachable, and I enjoy breaking difficult problems into simple, easy-to-understand steps.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help students get the correct answer, but also to help them understand the method behind it, strengthen their mathematical foundations and become more confident when solving problems independently.

My maths lessons are designed for primary and secondary school students from Years 1–10 and are aligned with the Victorian Curriculum. I focus on making maths simple and easy to understand by explaining concepts step-by-step and using practical examples.
Each lesson is adapted to the individual student’s level, learning pace and areas where they need additional support. I can help with schoolwork, homework, upcoming tests and exams, as well as strengthening important mathematical foundations.
Lessons can cover topics including arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, algebra, equations, graphs, geometry, measurement, trigonometry, statistics and probability, depending on the student’s year level.
I am currently a third-year Mechanical Engineering student at Deakin University and have a strong background in mathematics, engineering calculations and problem-solving. My goal is to create a friendly and comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and gradually improve their maths skills and get marks in their exams.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes+, but the length and learning approach can be adjusted depending on the student’s needs.
