About Daniel

Hi, I'm Dan! I earned my B.S. in Chemistry from Central Michigan University and my M.S. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame. Throughout my academic career, I completed advanced coursework in organic chemistry and conducted research in the field, giving me a strong foundation in both the theory and application of chemistry.

In addition to my education, I served as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory courses, where I helped students understand challenging concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in their abilities. Working with students showed me that success in chemistry comes from understanding the "why" behind the material, not just memorizing facts.

I enjoy helping students overcome obstacles, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals. Whether you're taking general chemistry, organic chemistry, or preparing for an exam, I'm committed to creating a supportive learning environment where questions are encouraged and understanding comes first.

About the lesson

My teaching philosophy is simple: chemistry makes a lot more sense when you actively work through it rather than just memorize it. During our sessions, I would like to guide students through the material step by step while encouraging questions at any point. Once we've covered a concept, we'll work through practice problems together, but my goal isn't to simply give you the answer. Instead, I'll help you develop the reasoning and problem-solving skills needed to arrive at the answer yourself.

I especially enjoy working with students who feel overwhelmed by chemistry, are struggling with reaction mechanisms, synthesis problems, or exam preparation, or simply want to build more confidence in the subject. I've worked with students at different levels, and I understand that everyone learns a little differently.
