About Audrey
I did not go to school to become a teacher I will be honest. Its not something I saw myself doing back then. However I could not ignore what I saw happening on the news and hearing from others: teacher shortages, the ranking of our country in education compared to other countries, and young people themselves saying they found learning boring, not compelling. I saw a need in my community and decided to become a substitute. I was quickly promoted to a tutor for the 4th grade in the local elementary school I had been subbing for and fell in love with helping teachers and the students. However there is only so much teachers can accomplish during school hours, and unfortunately I saw how easily students could be distracted, or fall behind because they don't grasp the lesson that is being taught, and because of district demands, the teacher has to move on. I saw that extra help was needed. I want to do my part, small as it may be, to help anyone become a better version of themselves. Doesn't matter where you start, just that you start.

Every person is unique, and learning should be tailored to how you learn best. Regardless of the material, I take the time to find out how the student will understand and fully grasp the concepts and lessons. I am flexible in my teaching methods as I do not stick to only one way to learn. That's how students fall behind. From making connections to real life situations, to learning what the student connects and utilizing that knowledge to help them understand the task at hand, my goal is to help my students think and grow, not just get good grades. The grades will follow when the students curiosity and love for learning is stimulated. I can teach grades 4th-12th and can teach reading, grammar, writing and literature.
