About Michaelo

I love the entire process of teaching Chess, to watch my students grow and develop the same love for the game that I have. Chess can be boring for some but with my personality I can make it fun and engaging. Chess isn't just a game for me. I apply most of the principles of Chess to my everyday life. This allows me to be more patient, have a broader way of thinking, having a more strategic approach to what I do and having the ability to think a few steps ahead. My favourite chess player is Magnus Carlsen he is to me one of the greatest of all time. My style of chess is unique but so will yours when we begin!

About the lesson

I am currently a Chess Instructor at St. MARY’S Primary in Chelsea. I do private classes online and at my Balham location as well for kids and adults. I have the patience of a turtle and the personality of your best friend! It would be an honour to instruct you and to be a part of your chess journey.

1) When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?
1) I started practicing when I moved to London 3 years ago.

I have been working with children in other areas as a coach for a long time like football for example. Therefore I was just combining one of the things I enjoy doing with coaching and this is chess!

2) None really, I manage to have a very sound practice and it's never really been affected by anyone or anything.
3) What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?
3) You must be patient, willing to be open to learning more and wanting to see others develop.
4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?
4) There will always be distractions that try to take you away from being creative but you must ancor yourself at times to give yourself time to explore the possibilities.
5) How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?
5) My passion is something that is fun for me and it always makes me feel great when my students succeed.
6) What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?
6) I'm particularly proud of my students who have taken on national tournaments and have done well in them.
