I would like to tutor students as I do not want to see other people failing to reach their potential. I wish I put more effort into my work in school, and it is one of my biggest regrets. You are only in school once and you will not regret working hard in preparation for your exams after you have completed them. It may seem boring and you can not be bothered, but once exam season is over, you will have a long summer of waiting where you would have wished you had worked harder if you do not put the effort in now. It will make the wait for your results much easier for you if you know that you put in as much effort as you could to achieve your potential.

I have been told by friends and family that I am a very understanding and patient person which would benefit towards tutoring you. I am more than happy to make an effort for you if you reciprocate an effort towards your work and towards me. I will also respect you if you respect me. If you make an effort to complete the work and try your best in the sessions then we will not only get along well, but you will also notice yourself improving on your work, and after all that is the main goal of me tutoring you!

Pretty much, all I ask of you is for you to respect me and make an effort both outside and inside of our sessions.

About the lesson

My lessons would be for A-level students who are looking for extra help with applying legal points and relevant case law to their essays.

My priority is to get the student to create their own revision resources with guidance on what these resources should be about (such as key cases to include and a concise definition of the law in question). After the creation of each resource, I would check over this in my own time after the student sends each document to me via email, allowing us to start each zoom session with the correct resources and begin applying this to practice scenarios and questions. The creation of each resource would be a homework task allocated after every lesson and will be due before the next session so that I can check over it before the lesson begins.

Each resource will be made by the student outside of lessons with key targets to include. For example, I would like the student to find 3 definitions of each law, and include all 3 of these on the document. I would also like them to write their own definition underneath this ensuring that all aspects are included. I would also give them key cases to go and research to include on the document. I would also ask them to find a minimum amount of extra cases on their own that are relevant to that law, and include these on the document. Once this document is completed, the students may send it to me at any time, and I will have it checked and corrected with advice/comments (if necessary) before the next session.

Each zoom session will be focusing on applying these definitions and cases to practice scenarios, where I will get the students to write their answers on a shared document with me. If the student has not learned the notes they have taken this will make this task very difficult, so I do ask that parents/guardians ensure that these resources are learned by the student before our sessions otherwise we would waste time teaching the notes rather than focusing on applying them. Of course I do not expect the student to have learned the notes to perfection, and I will go through every resource with them before we begin the application, but I do expect them to have made an effort to have learned them to an extent prior to the zoom session.

Each lesson duration, time and cost can be negotiated with me via email. The students will be creating their own resources under instructions from me. This usually involves a document with definitions at the top, and cases with the facts and legal issue within the case both included in their own section below the definition section. This allows the student to keep their notes and cases organised and make sure they have all the correct notes in one place ready for the lesson.

I am not a strict person and I am quite easy-going, however I do expect tasks to be done and effort to be made, otherwise you are only wasting your own time and money. If the student does not complete all resources (unless circumstances make this difficult) and make a conscious effort in each zoom session, I will report this back to the parents/ guardians and I may cancel any future sessions. I do not want to waste your money and your time, I do want to help you achieve your goals in any way I can assist you with, but the responsibility is on the student to make the effort too.
