About Isabel

I speak both Spanish and French and have a life long passion for history and literature. I have first had experience of how interesting languages and history can be with the right teachers, and I have had some great teachers as well as a history teacher for a father to thank for the immersive and genuinely fun education I had in the subjects I’ve chosen to pursue as an adult. To that end I wish to give other students the same joy and genuine interest in languages, history and literature by placing them into relatable contexts and giving them a base in which to continue their educations. I truly love the subjects I teach and I want to give other young people the opportunity to find the same passion I have found as passion, fun and honest desire to learn are the keys to getting the results that matter.

About the lesson

As a university student and someone with very recent experience teaching teenagers I’m aware of the challenges that young people today face in terms of the myriad of distractions around them and so my teaching style aims at adapting to the intense of bursts attention that young people have. I aim to produce interesting and engaging materials and lessons for my students as I understand that having tutoring sessions on top of an already busy school day can be challenging for a young person. I also aim to take the time to understand how each individual student learns as I have found that the classes in which they learn at school are often an overstimulating and impersonal environment, and that getting through to a student on a personal basis is the most effective way to improve their performance and confidence. I am also aware of and continuing to update knowledge from both primary and secondary language and history curriculums.
