About Lydia

My legitimacy as a tutor comes from my own struggle in these courses. I've worked hard to master the content in these courses by being tutored myself and by doing lots and lots of practice on mastering concepts. Because I got through these courses by receiving help from others, I know what it's like to be in that position and I know many different ways of explaining a given idea. Additionally, I have passed these courses with flying colors - which demonstrates a mastery of the content. This is why I feel I am able and qualified to help you do the same!

About the lesson

My goal with tutoring is to help you become more independent. I want to help you master the concepts behind the problems you struggle with and not just help you get the right answer. Mastering the concepts will help you answer not only the problem you are struggling with, but many variations on that problem that target the same concept. This is something that is important to understand as you approach college level courses.
I feel most comfortable tutoring high school levels, but I am willing and ready to tutor college classes as well - namely Chemistry and Physics.
A typical lesson plan would vary depending on the student and what they want to accomplish. My previous tutoring sessions have consisted of many different approaches. In one, the student just brought their questions and we worked through them together. In another, the student would let me know a topic beforehand and then we would work through questions they had on mastering that topic. The design is flexible and I'm here to help you, so we can always adjust based on your preferences!
