About the lesson

First Meeting: Getting to Know Your Child

- Begin with warm introductions to build rapport and make the child feel comfortable.
- Play a couple of fun games to break the ice.
- Conduct light reading exercises to assess the child’s current level.

- This could range from basic ABCs to vocabulary recognition, pronunciation, or sentence comprehension.
- Identify target areas for improvement (e.g., phonics, grammar, vocabulary, reading fluency).
- Create a personalized learning plan based on the child’s current abilities and needs.

Structure of Ongoing Lessons

1. Mood & Check-In

- Begin each session with a quick emotional/mood scale to see how your child is feeling.
- Helps set the tone and pace of the session appropriately.

2. Opening Sentence/Paragraph

- Read or repeat a short sentence or paragraph using vocabulary suited to your child's level.
- Encourages daily reading habits and contextual word understanding.

3. Vocabulary Focus

- Introduce new vocabulary words for the day.
- Learn proper pronunciation.
- Identify each word's part of speech (noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, etc.).
- Practice spelling the words aloud and/or in writing.

4. Interactive Game

- Play a short game using the vocabulary words.
- Game questions will be based on the day’s target focus (e.g., grammar, pronunciation, word usage).

5. Session Reflection

-Spend the last 5 minutes discussing how the child felt about the lesson.
-Ask what they’d like to learn or improve next time.
-Suggest ways they can prepare for the next session.
