About Alexis

As a tutor, it is my utmost goal to see my students achieve and exceed their academic goals through some of the same methods I used to achieve mine. I scored in the top 2% nationally for the SAT, ACT, and CLT, and in the top 10-20% internationally for Latin. I was chosen out of 150+ high school students to supervise and lead ≈36 teaching assistants for Dr. Rubin’s Mini Medical School, a high school medical program dedicated to providing a 6-week overview of the first 2 years of medical school. After my experience studying extensive philosophy and epistemology throughout high school, I wrote, defended, and presented my 27-page senior thesis on the bioethics of in vitro brain organoid synthesis to alumni from Northwestern University, Wheaton College, etc. Now, as a student attending the university of my choice, I want to use my experience in tutoring and the study tactics which benefitted me to help other students achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

The goal of my tutoring sessions is to encourage creative studying approaches which turn learning into a positive experience, thus increasing the amount of information which can be learned/memorized. This approach led to my acceptance to a tier 1 research university on a generous scholarship. Through my years of tutoring high school and middle school coursework and advanced swim stroke, I have developed numerous tactics to explain information in various ways to benefit the student.
