About Maya
I love tutoring; I have been teaching many skills at a variety of levels, both formally and informally, for the past 4 years or so. I'm willing to tweak my teaching style however much is necessary to meet the learning needs of my students, and even more so when I'm meeting with a student one on one. Here's some of my relevant experiences:
1. 3rd year undergraduate student studying Computer Science, Data Sciences, and Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin Madison
2. 2nd year peer lead for the Wisconsin Emerging Scholars program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
3. 1st year Technology and Leadership Development Program Intern at Travelers
4. 4+ years of informal tutoring experience in various high school topics, mainly math

I've had a lot of experience communicating mathematical and technical topics to my students, and it's always been very important to me that I'm explaining things in a simple and easy-to-understand way. If my student isn't understanding something based on how I'm teaching it, I'm quick to adapt and do whatever I need to do to accomodate for their learning style. I'm consistently patient and make sure that I'm reaffirming knowledge that I think is important or that the student has struggled with in the past.
I don't have experience curating lesson plans, but instead prefer my students to come armed with specific problems or topics that they want explained. I can generally come up with relevant examples for specific topics on the spot or with some short preparation time.
