About Neema
Currently, I'm in high school as well, so if the person hiring is not comfortable with that, I'd advise a different tutor. However, I'd note that I think that gives me a greater ability to connect and relate to the student because I, too, understand the struggles of high school English as if it were yesterday (because it was!). I always make sure to understand my student as a person first, their interests, hobbies, strengths, their perception of their weaknesses, and build from there. I've been told by teachers and students alike that I have a great balance of professionalism, humor, and empathy, so do with that information as you will! Overall, I'd be glad to work with any student as long as they're willing to put in the work as well, because this runs as a two-way street!

A typical lesson plan would include a student showing/telling me what specifically they feel they need help with. If they don't know specifically, then I'll give them a short essay prompt to assess where they are as a writer. Then, I'll personalize my feedback to give the writer tips for improvement, and we'll further work on future projects and essays to get to student to mastery-level writing. Currently, I'm confident in teaching high-school level writing and below.
