About Keeya

About the lesson

I am a recent graduate from University of Birmingham with a Bsc in Biological Sciences (Genetics). Whilst my degree provided me the opportunity to expand my scientific knowledge, I spent my final year completing a module called "teaching in biosciences." The module taught me to develop key skills that have enabled myself to become a good tutor/ teacher. These include my communication, patience and ability to adapt to a range of different learning needs. I offer GCSE tutoring in maths, biology and chemistry and A level Biology.

Currently, I am a dental student at Queens University Belfast. Therefore, I have extensive mathematical, chemical and biology knowledge. I enjoy teaching these subjects to GCSE and A-level students and breaking down the information. As well teaching topics, I have an array of 'exam techniques' that I share with all my students and which previous students have confirmed has seriously helped improve their grades!

During my placement at 'teach first', I have learnt that an aware tutor will tailor their communication teaching style to personally suit every student - this is my approach. For example, if the student is not aware where their gaps in knowledge lie, I will work through problem-based questions to address such gaps. Please enquire for further details on my teaching skills

As a recent graduate from the education system, I am familiar and keep up-to-date with any academic changes. I was the first year to change from letter to number grades at GCSES and to adapt to the 'new style' of A-levels. Therefore, I can appreciate how challenging and demanding such changes can be for the student but, I am confident that I can help my tutee to envisage and overcome such challenges. In turn, I want to provide each student with the support they require to succeed beyond their academics.

Most importantly, I will ensure that my sessions will cover each point in there exam board specification to ensure they are not faced with any unfamiliar content in the real exam!
