About Sarah

Since graduating from CSM MA Fashion in 2021 I have gone on to work as a freelance designer for several clients, launched my namesake brand Sarah Garfield (featured in The Face '13 names to know in 2023').

I have previous formal teaching experience teenagers from 11-19 at The Fashion School Chelsea, where I have been worked for 7 months. I have been a private tutor for 2.5 years now. My students range from high-school students wanting to learn the basics of sewing, people of all ages wanting to learn new skills as hobby for personal projects, to young adults wanting to apply to fashion courses at CSM.

I have grown up in London and English is my first language, so I'm happy to assist any international students who need language support to apply for British and American fashion courses.

Two of my past students have been accepted into multiple courses BA at CSM and LCF, and 2 have been accepted onto MA courses at CSM, LCF and the RCA.

About the lesson

I offer sessions either online or in my Stratford-based studio in person, depending on what is best suited. Each lesson is tailored to you and what you want to achieve. Typically a lesson would be 2-4 hours.
We will have a 30 minute free consultation to discuss your personal goals and needs before moving on to the first class.

I have a large pattern cutting table, 2x female mannequins, 1 industrial sewing machine, 1 industrial overlocker, 1 domestic sewing machine and 2x domestic overlockers. I also have a domestic knitting machine if that is something someone is also interested in learning.

Due to frequent lateness. Please note if you are more than 30 minutes late you will charged an additional £20.

Over 45 minutes late - you will be charged for a full hour of wait time and you may not receive your full lesson if I have another client scheduled.
