About Gina
If you had to choose a dog breed that best represents you, what would it be? I have been called a "border collie" repeatedly by friends and colleagues.
I bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the tasks I set myself, and focus intently on solving the problem before me. I would also like to think that description is because it's a smart breed.
For any Harry Potter fans out there... as much as I wanted to be a Gryffindor, every test I have been able to find over the years puts me in Ravenclaw. So maybe there is something to this...
My full time job is an emergency and critical care veterinarian (a doctor for the sickest of the sick dogs and cats), and I will gladly find a way to relate any material possible to animals and medicine.
Second to my love for animals and work as a veterinarian, is my passion for sports. I was a field hockey and lacrosse goalie in college, and spend the vast majority of my free time now outside finding ways to be active. I will be more than happy to incorporate sports references into our study time if that makes it more entertaining and memorable for you. You would be amazed how many ways that can be done!
I'm a firm believer in the idea of "right coach, right player", or in this instance "right teacher, right student". My hope is that my personality comes with the right teaching style for you!

My teaching style is similar whether I am coaching a sport or in the classroom. Finding a way to make the material interactive, and whenever possible, fun! Visual learners will do well with me as I am a big fan of diagrams and drawing out subjects to help literally "connect the dots" of an idea. I bring a lot of energy to the material I teach, and generally presentations are accompanied with interactive questions to help keep students engaged. I'm more than happy to pause the course of a lesson to delve into a question that needs further explaining.
Teaching in a hospital setting has definitely made me a big fan of finding real-world applications of what is being taught.
In biology I would be comfortable working with students through college level. In math and other natural sciences, high school or younger fits my experience level best.
Let's see if we would be a good match to help you learn the material!
