About Ruben
Hello! I'm Mr. Antilla, a credentialed mathematics teacher who believes that education should build confidence just as much as academic ability. Over the past two decades, I've had the privilege of leading, teaching, coaching, and mentoring students of all ages—from K–12 learners to college students and working professionals.
Mathematics has been a passion of mine since earning my Associate of Science in Mathematics, and that passion has grown through years of classroom teaching, private tutoring, higher education instruction, and educational leadership. Along the way, I've also earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, an MBA, and a Preliminary Single Subject Credential in Mathematics.
Beyond academics, I'm passionate about helping students become well-rounded thinkers. Whether through chess, financial literacy, college and career planning, or competitive racquetball, I enjoy showing students how the skills they develop in one area can strengthen every other part of their lives.
As both an educator and a parent, I understand the trust families place in a teacher. My goal is simple: create a positive learning environment where students feel supported, challenged, and confident enough to achieve more than they thought possible.

I believe the best teachers don't simply help students complete homework—they help students become confident, independent thinkers.
As a credentialed mathematics teacher with experience spanning K–12 classrooms, higher education, tutoring, coaching, and leadership, my goal is to make learning practical, engaging, and enjoyable. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student, whether they need to strengthen foundational skills, prepare for advanced coursework, improve study habits, or simply gain confidence in mathematics.
My instruction extends beyond traditional tutoring. Along with mathematics, I enjoy incorporating strategic thinking through chess, real-world financial literacy, college and career planning, and even racquetball coaching when appropriate. These experiences help students develop problem-solving, discipline, and confidence that carry into every aspect of life.
Every session is designed around the student's goals. Whether we're preparing for an upcoming exam, closing learning gaps, or planning for college, I focus on creating an environment where students feel challenged, supported, and excited to learn.
