About David

For the past 8+ years, I have taught guitar primarily to school and college students, helping them discover their passion for music and build strong foundational skills. I believe that learning guitar should be personalized, engaging, and rewarding, tailored to each student’s interests and goals. My lessons balance technical instruction—covering finger positioning, chord transitions, rhythm, and timing—with creative exercises like improvisation, songwriting, and exploring different styles. I emphasize understanding music theory in a practical way that makes sense to each student, enhancing their ability to play with confidence and creativity. One of the most memorable experiences was guiding a group of students who formed a band and performed live at local venues, developing their performance skills and musical teamwork. Beyond technique, I focus on helping students build patience, discipline, focus, and self-confidence, qualities that serve them well in music and life. I aim to foster a patient, positive, and inspiring learning environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and growing at their own pace. My feedback is honest, constructive, and delivered with patience and kindness to foster growth in a safe, supportive environment. I adapt to your learning style, whether you prefer to learn by ear, through notation, or via theory. In addition to Guitar technique, I offer lessons in improvisation, songwriting, and performance preparation to help you develop as a well-rounded musician. Whether you’re learning for fun or aiming for professional skills, I’m here to guide and inspire your musical journey.
