About Bryce
I am an Atlanta, Georgia native and countertenor whose voice has been described as warm as a plum with an ethereal quality and impressive lower register. Passionate about championing living composers, I have had the privilege of premiering 15 new works while maintaining a deep commitment to historical performance practice. I am currently pursuing my Master of Music in Historical Performance (Voice) at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of Thomas Cooley. I earned a bachelor's degree in vocal performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and studied at the University of Toronto with countertenor Daniel Taylor and mezzo-soprano Jean MacPhail. I have participated in master classes with distinguished artists including Emma Kirkby, Reginald Mobley, Michael Chance, and Lynne Dawson, which have deeply informed my approach to early music and vocal technique. Recent performances include Handel's Dixit Dominus with Toronto Consort (2024), Bach's Cantatas 100 and 42 with Bloomington Bach Cantata Project (2025), and the role of Cupid in John Blow's Venus and Adonis (2023). I have participated in programs including the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute, Urbino Musica Antiqua in Italy, and Siena Agosto in Italy. I currently serve as section leader at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bloomington under the direction of Janette Fishel, where I enjoy exploring sacred music repertoire within the community. When I'm not singing, I enjoy watching movies and observing different animals—pursuits that continually inspire my artistic curiosity and creativity.

My Teaching Philosophy:
I believe every voice is unique and deserves a personalized approach. My method combines rigorous classical technique with genuine enthusiasm for each student's individual journey. Whether you dream of performing early music, opera, musical theater, or simply want to sing with confidence, I'll give you the technical foundation to pursue any genre you choose.
What Makes My Lessons Different:
Unlike a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor every exercise and piece specifically to your voice and goals. I don't just assign repertoire—every song has a strategic purpose, whether we're developing breath support, refining phrasing, polishing diction, or deepening emotional expression. You'll always know why we're working on something and how it's moving you forward.
I come to every lesson fully prepared with a personalized plan, because I'm genuinely invested in your success. My students tell me they appreciate how I balance technical rigor with a warm, encouraging atmosphere where mistakes are learning opportunities, not failures.
What You Can Expect:
Each lesson begins with vocal pedagogy tailored to your voice's specific needs. I assess where you are, design exercises accordingly, and then apply those techniques to carefully selected repertoire with clear, achievable goals. You'll see tangible progress and understand exactly how each piece is building your skills.
Who Should Work With Me:
I welcome curious students of all ages and levels—from complete beginners to advanced singers. If you're ready to commit to growth, enjoy exploring your voice, and want a teacher who's genuinely in your corner, we'll work beautifully together.
