About Cecilia
Award-winning pianist Cecilia Chow performs has been presented as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist across the world, including Hong Kong, China, Spain, Italy, Austria and United States.
In 2011, Cecilia made her solo debut at the Guangzhou Opera House. In the same year, she was invited to perform in the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. She has also been a prizewinner of various competitions and prestigious awards in Hong Kong and abroad, including Internationaler Deutchler Klavier, Steinway and Sons Piano Competition, Toyama Piano Competition, Yamaha Piano Competition and Asia Open Competition.
Cecilia has performed in concerts and recitals at across multiple venues, including Studzinski Hall, Kilbourn Hall, Galvin Hall, Guangzhou Opera House, Haydn-Haus, Harris Concert Hall and Pick-Staiger Concert Hall. In past seasons, she has performed multiple concerts in the Chicagoland area, collaborating with students and faculty members of Northwestern University. She has served as pianist for the Northwestern University Chamber Orchestra, performing under the baton of Victor Yampolsky and Robert Hasty, throughout multiple seasons. In 2018, Cecilia co-founded a piano trio, performing a variety of works from the classical to contemporary repertoire. As a chamber musician, she as worked closely with the Dover Quartet as well as members of the Ying Quartet.
Cecilia has had the privilege of working with prominent artists of the world, including but not limited to Anton Nel, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Julian Martin, Robert Shannon, Jose Mendez, Logan Skelton, Hie-Yon Choi, Boaz Sharon, James Giles and Ralf Heiber. Festival appearances include the Aspen Music Festival and School, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Gijón International Piano Festival, Amalfi Coast Piano Festival and Classical Music Festival. In the 2017 Season of the Aspen Music Festival and School, she was invited to play alongside legendary pianist Ann Schein at then Harris Concert Hall.
At age 17, Cecilia received the Howard Hanson Scholarship and the Avis D. Vaughan Scholarship to study at the Eastman School of Music, where she earned her Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Alan Chow and Ann Schein. Cecilia also holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Northwestern University, where she studied with Sylvia Wang. She is currently pursuing her Artist Diploma at the Royal Conservatory of Music, where she studies with John Perry and David Louie.
Cecilia also has a strong passion for teaching students of all levels and ages. Having held teaching posts at various local music schools, Cecilia founded her private teaching studio in 2018. Cecilia is a curious piano teacher based in Midtown Toronto. She has a passion for teaching and teaches all levels and ages. Cecilia has 10 years of teaching experience and maintains her private studio, consisting of both online and in-person students, in Toronto and the Chicagoland area. She is a believer in a well-rounded and balanced curriculum built into each piano lesson. Musicianship and aural skills training is embedded to each lesson and tailored to fit each student's needs.

Perfect! We are so happy with teacher Cecilia because teacher Cecilia is so detail in techniques! In addition, teacher Cecilia has a strong passion and influence on music! What is more, teacher Cecilia is so dedicated on helping my daughter to making a great progress by using different tools and methods!
Perfect! Gosh, Cecilia clicked right in on my learning path and I am progressing with her faster than I could have imagined. Very skilled at the piano, and at getting the concepts across. Not a task master or just a cheerleader, great back and forth with cycles of playing and feedback that is super helpful and exciting as I am progressing faster than I could have hoped and enjoying it. I highly recommend Cecilia!
