About Jo

I am a concert pianist based in London. As well as performing regularly, I am also a passionate piano teacher. I have played the piano since I was four years old and moved to London to further my studies. Here, I won many competitive awards, namely the Craxton Memorial Trust, Derek Butler Award from the Countess of Munster Trust, HelpMusicians Postgraduate Award, and internal scholarships from the conservatoires I attended. I was also awarded the Romantic Prize at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2022.

As someone who has been through it all (auditions, applications, competitions, years of conservatoire studies), I believe I can guide my students to achieve the highest standard of piano-playing and help them build a solid technical and musical foundation. I enjoy the challenge of creating individual lesson plans tailored to each student, with their goals and interests at heart, delivered to the highest standard.

About the lesson

Typical lessons with me range from 1-2 hours and include in-depth study of pieces as well as technical work (scales, sight-reading, exercises, etc.), accompanied by specific and detailed homework for the week. The lesson slot (day and time) will stay the same from week to week to ensure that you can plan ahead reliably.

I have been teaching all levels and ages for over a decade and am very confident with the ABRSM/Trinity syllabuses. I have guided many students to distinction in their exams and enjoy adapting my lessons to each pupil and their individual goals. I also teach music theory, either supplementary to the piano lessons or on its own.

Qualifications:
- Junior Fellow at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD)
- Artist Diploma @GSMD with distinction
- MMus @GSMD with distinction and awarded the Concert Recital Diploma (CRD) for exceptional performance in final recital
- BMus @Royal Academy of Music, first class honours
