About Maria

Since I started playing the piano when I was 4, I immediately knew that I wanted to dedicate my life to music. When I was 12 I offered my debut solo recital and I have been blessed by actively performing since then around Europe: the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany and Liechtenstein. I have also performed as a soloist with orchestra, which I am thrilled by, with concertos such as Chopin No. 1, Rachmaninov No. 3, Grieg, Liszt No. 1 and more, with very notable conductors. Besides having the pleasure of being named as Music Ambassador for Spain in the Lang Lang Music Foundation, I have been the first prize winner of more than 20 national and international competitions, including being now supported by the Craxton Memorial Trust, Munster Trust and the Musicians Company. Regarding teaching, I have given masterclasses to junior conservatoires in my home country, and participated in the Attune project, which brought together students from Junior conservatoires in the UK to coach chamber music, all in addition to teaching privately for six years. I recently finished studying on a full scholarship an Artist Diploma in Performance at the Royal College of Music with the wonderful Professors Norma Fischer and Danny Driver, while being a Junior Fellow in the institution.  Before that, I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with a First Class/Distinction and also under a full scholarship at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with professor Pascal Nemirovski. Upon my upcoming projects, the publication of a CD by the Naxos Records label stands out, performing a collection of works by Anton Urspruch (which will be published on Spotify!). However and most importantly, having explained the more professional side of me, my qualities as a person are that I am in a constant state of learning, and therefore I take everything in life as a learning experience; I am open to meeting people and adapt to social circumstances, which is something I learned from this industry; I take care of the people around me and love to make people happy; and I love spending time outside of music, which is equally as important than practising to be a good musician and person: it’s all about experiences in life!

I like to approach my lessons in an empathetic and flexible manner, adapting to the strengths and weaknesses of each student as an individual in a fun and healthy, but challenging enough, manner. I will approach the teaching from a performer’s point of view, making sure you are and feel like the best you can be. My teaching methodology will vary on the experience of the student. If you are a beginner or just starting, I will make sure that the approach is an interesting, fun, learning experience. However, if you play a more demanding repertoire, I will address in a detailed manner all the technical difficulties you may have, as well as focusing on the quality of sound, expressivity and the music as a whole. Duration of lessons may vary depending on your goal: 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1 hour and 30 min. I can also teach in English or Spanish, so if you’re learning any of these this is your opportunity to put it to practice!
