About Matthew
Hello! I am a student studying Computer Science and Applied Math. I have been teaching private lessons for about 1 year but have been programming for over 8 years. In my past lessons I have helped students build websites and program video games.
I also enjoy playing bass and going on hikes.

My teaching method is to give students hands on experience with programming and software design. I break down complicated topics into understandable parts to build a solid foundation for students. I try to connect technical concepts to real world parallels to make programming appear less abstract.
Generally, I would like students to be able to share their coding window with me so that I can help them debug quickly. I prefer this to having students follow along with my screen because I know that they are not just copy and pasting code. The best way to learn is to have the student type out the code themselves. I try to not to tell students exactly what to code unless needed so that they can develop good practical coding skills.
I am happy to teach any level of student and will adjust our lessons to match their pace. I have worked with all levels and all ages of students and am prepared to help them.
