About Peter

I’m Peter, a Salford-based Computer Science and Python tutor with a PGCE in secondary Computer Science and IT and a BSc (Hons) in Computing (Security & Forensics), both from Edge Hill University.

My experience includes supply teaching and cover supervision at secondary schools, where I have supported students with classwork, helped them stay engaged and adapted my approach to different learning needs. I have also completed professional development in GCSE Computer Science subject knowledge and programming pedagogy.

Before working in education, I worked in technical support, solving software and hardware problems and using Linux to configure servers and manage backups. That practical background helps me explain how computing works beyond the textbook.

I also volunteer with Samaritans in listening, training and leadership roles. Those experiences have strengthened the patience and communication skills I bring to tutoring. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their understanding at a pace that works for them.

About the lesson

I offer Computer Science and Python lessons for secondary school students, including GCSE learners who want to strengthen their understanding, improve their programming skills or prepare for exams.

Lessons start with what you already know and where you feel stuck. We can work through topics such as algorithms, programming fundamentals, data representation, computer systems and cyber security. For Python, we can write and debug code together so you understand why it works, rather than memorising an answer. If you are preparing for GCSE Computer Science, we can practise applying your knowledge to questions and review the areas that need more attention.

I have a PGCE in secondary Computer Science and IT, a computing degree, and experience supporting students in schools. Before working in education, I worked in technical support, which helps me connect computing concepts to practical examples. My approach is patient and clear: I break difficult ideas into manageable steps, encourage questions and adapt the pace to the learner.
