About Karen

I am a Computer and Communications Engineering graduate from the American University of Beirut with professional experience as a software engineer, including current work experience at Lockheed Martin. Throughout my career, I have worked with programming, software development, testing, and complex technical systems, giving me the opportunity to apply many of the concepts I learned in the classroom to real-world problems.

I know that subjects like math, programming, and engineering can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when they are taught too quickly or without enough explanation. I believe that struggling with a concept does not mean a student cannot master it—it often just means they need it explained in a different way.

I am patient, encouraging, and committed to creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build their confidence and develop problem-solving skills that they can continue using independently.

Whether you are preparing for an exam, struggling with a class, learning to code for the first time, or simply want to strengthen your skills, I will meet you at your current level and help you progress from there.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centered around making difficult concepts feel simple and manageable. With a background in Computer and Communications Engineering and professional experience as a software engineer, I understand both the academic side of technical subjects and how those concepts are applied in the real world.

I adapt each lesson to the individual student because everyone learns differently. I typically begin by identifying what the student already understands and where they are struggling. From there, we break the topic down step by step, work through examples together, and then practice problems independently to make sure the student can apply the concept on their own.

A typical lesson may include reviewing previous material, explaining a new concept, working through examples together, and practicing problems or assignments the student is currently working on. I also focus on helping students understand why something works rather than simply memorizing formulas or solutions.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect academic concepts with real-world engineering and software experience. I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and working through problems without feeling judged or rushed.

My lessons are suitable for middle school, high school, and college students who need help with mathematics, programming, computer science, or introductory engineering subjects. I can also work with students who want additional practice, help preparing for exams, or a clearer understanding of material covered in class.

My rate is $50 per hour for personalized résumé preparation and career support.

Each session is tailored to your individual experience and career goals. During our time together, we can review your current résumé, strengthen your bullet points, improve formatting and organization, highlight your accomplishments, and tailor your résumé toward the types of positions you are applying for.

Students and recent graduates are welcome, including those creating their first professional résumé or unsure how to present limited work experience.

Sessions can also include interview preparation, LinkedIn guidance, and help communicating your technical, academic, or professional experience effectively.
