About Sara
Thank you for visiting my profile!
I am an internationally awarded professional composer and conductor. I wrote orchestral, chamber and solo works, three fully staged operas, electroacoustic media compositions and sound installations. My music is regularly commissioned by several renowned concert institutions (Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, BEAST, Bludenzer Tage, Salzburg Mozarteum, a.o.) and broadcast on international radios/tvs (ÖRF, France Music, RAI, a.o.)
I hold MMus in Piano, Composition, and Orchestral Conducting from Conservatoires in Milan, Rome and Stuttgart and am completing a PhD in Composition. I also specialise in contemporary performance interpretation. I have conducted world premieres of living composers in concerts and international competitions, debuting at Rome Opera House, I Concerti del Quirinale di Radio3, Peter Eötvös Foundation, Philharmonie de Paris and Frankfurt Cresc. Biennale.

My experience as a mentor includes:
• two years of HE teaching in composition, harmony and orchestration at the University of Birmingham;
• six years of private tuition in composition, solfege, theory and piano with students aged 6-60;
• conducting workshops for composers (students and professionals) since 2016;
• conducting and mentoring young ensembles and youth orchestras since 2015.
I am deeply passionate about all musical structures and developments; I have a vast knowledge of music dramaturgy, orchestral music, counterpoint, and harmony, from baroque to present repertoires, hidden gems included. I am also an intuitive communicator and an exceptional listener with a systematic approach to teaching. I mostly enjoy accompanying the students through their discoveries in the music world, helping them hone their creativity, ear and perspectives on music at any level of engagement and proficiency.
In the first two encounters, we will identify the student's starting point and learning objectives to pace an effective teaching and learning strategy. Lessons will become tailored to the student's goal and learning styles.
