I will ensure that each lesson is catered to the specific learning styles of the individual. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to learning - which is why it is important to understand the ways in which people learn best and do not learn best. Building on this we can cover topics covered in the syllabus given by the students exam board as well as looking at the best ways to revise - memorise, retain and retrieve information learnt.
Initially, I will sit down with the student and understand the topics they confident in and which ones they are struggling with. This will give an opportunity to practice any weak spots and help them understand any concepts they aren’t familiar with.
Practice papers are a great way to prepare for exams, as this gives students an idea of what they’ll experience on the day. A useful way to do this is the student having a go at a question and then us comparing their answer with the mark scheme.
