I'm a UCLA Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution Major offering biology lessons to those who want to learn more about how life works here on planet Earth! I'm great at engaging learners of all ages, stages, and understanding levels. As an instructor, I teach for learners to understand holistically. Biology is all about interactions within systems at differing scales; I teach biology with that understanding in mind. My instruction style is to primarily address questions that learners bring to me, so as to focus on areas that could use support rather than drilling what is already known. When a learner comes to me for help with a question, I start by trying to personally understand that learner's misunderstanding of the system at hand (there are no silly questions!). From there, I can see what fundamental ideas about the system need to be reexplained in a clearer way, or in a new way, to increase understanding of that system. I want learners to come up with answers on their own, based on their own understanding of biology; not to hear me tell them answers to be memorized for recall.
