About Sophia
I am an undergraduate college student with approximately 4 years experience teaching and tutoring young people between the ages of 8-18. I was an honors and Advanced Placement (AP) student. On my Advanced Placement English tests I got the highest possible score allowing me to skip some English requirements in college. I have experience teaching small groups as well as providing one on one tutoring.

I look to cultivate each session to the individual student and what is requiring the most immediate attention within their subject. Sessions will therefore vary with some being spent working through the student's own course work or with intentional lesson plans. I tailor lesson plans to meet students individual needs/goals. For example, for those struggling with writing or text comprehension, a select text will be read together with a provided prompt. This will be followed by the discussion of evidence relating to the prompt and then the student writing a 3-4 sentence chunk explaining the relevance of evidence to said prompt. This exercise will help the student with comprehension, analysis, and writing concisely.
