About Abby
I have worked in the public school system, as well as privately tutored and worked with children. I am confident in my abilities as a tutor, as I have excelled in all aspects of English since first entering school. I am currently working towards earning a sociology degree and hope to become an elementary school counselor once graduated. I am able to not only help students gain knowledge, but also inspire confidence in their abilities.

I have worked with children since high school, and excel in finding ways to make learning fun! A typical reading lesson would have us sit down with an appropriate book for the students age/reading level, and begin with discussing what we think the book might be about, reading together for a bit, and then writing/discussing what was read to gauge comprehension. Writing lessons would be tailored to the age of student. Grammar, creative writing, and proper essay structure would be the main focus of middle school aged writing lessons. Spelling lessons would focus on practicing with age appropriate word lists, which I enjoy finding themes for (examples include: beach words, fairytale words, food words, emotion words), and working on sounding out words and understanding certain spelling rules.
