About Amber

I am currently a student at a small private art school, and I am currently taking up both art history and writing courses, including AP English Literature during my senior year of high school. In my years of school, my fellow students have approached me for help with test prep, advice on essay writing, and even building professional resumes. Several friends have come to me with help understanding challenging texts such as Jane Austen and Shakespeare. I have students ask me for help with organization, note taking, etc.

About the lesson

My method of teaching varies depending on the student's needs and what area of literature they are interested in studying.
-Any work that involves analysis, I will have them read the text on their own, highlight what is easy to understand as well as what parts they are confused about. When they come back to me, I help to clarify any confusing areas. If I am giving lessons that involve a challenging text such as as a Shakespeare play, I have them read both the original text and a modernized translation on their own, then clarify confusion by watching scenes from a text-accurate movie or production.
-If a student approaches me for test prep, I will create a practice test to estimate what areas need to be improved, teach them the skills needed, then issue another practice test to measure progress.
-Concerning resumes, I show them examples of professional and unprofessional resumes, how to accurately present yourself in writing, and how to write a cover letter.

I am willing to travel to Beverly MA at no extra cost, however if it is necessary to travel to any nearby locations outside my hometown I will charge and extra $5-10 depending on the distance.
